Subject: [FreeVMS] New release 0.0.48
Date: Tue Jul 22 2003 - 12:00:34 CEST
New release 0.0.48 at
ftp.nvg.ntnu.no:/pub/vms/freevms (freevms-0_0_48.tgz and linker-0_0_45)
(Linker might not change each time)
Ext2 support for the common blocksizes.
RMS on Ext2 (read and execute support, no write).
Use of FCBs and WCBs in memory mapping, pagefault and execve.
Some ext2-related with i_size=0.
Note (for CONFIG_VMS):
It is possible to set init=[bin]sh and init=[vms\$common.sysexe]dcl.
Can also do things like dir [usr.bin] and type [etc]group and
RMS on Ext2 may bug some.
Only ELF-files can be execved, shell-scripting is broke for now.
For some reason the new stuff (except maybe blocksizes) does not work
as good on bochs/i386 as with uml.
Short-term I/O and other plans:
Let RMS also use Ext2 with write support.
Execute programs with execve and imgact on Ods-2.
Get more/better write-support in.
Do more SCA/SCS stuff.
At least look at whatever "device" uml uses and NE2000.
After some time even more driver support might be cut/broke (the most).
