Bruce,

Well, it's not necessarily that I have more time, as I have two
"projects" that are keeping me fairly busy - job hunting and pratically
full-time care of a very ill and disabled wife. But the code hacking
is a good diversion, and I need to keep in practice.

I worked under a contract for the United States Bureau of
Reclamation
for eleven years; a couple of the programs that I took over the
maintenance interfaced natively with VMS using DCL/CLD. I also had
to write additional applications and developed a personal routine
library to help make it easier to interface with various system
subsystems.

I also wrote several new applications when I was maintaining the
CMU-TEK
TCP/IP package for VAX/VMS, as well as modifying existing applications
for new functions. I did some work along the same lines when I worked
for
TGV. I've also added monitor level commands to TOPS10 and new exec
commands to TOPS20. (Try adding a new command to the running TOPS10
monitor - that's REAL fun...)

I've also written numerous command language programs for DOS and
unix.
(Believe me, in that respect, they are more alike than some people would
like
you to believe)

Now, I'm not trying to brag or sneak in a resume here, I just wanted
to point
out that I've had some experience in this field. I've also been
rereading the good
old "son of dragon" book to brush up on parsing and compilation for
something
else I've been hacking on.

    Best,

-HWM
